Ever since the first nymphomaniac new waver set foot on the dance floor of TRASH!, the musical delinquents of the downtown scene have been pestering me for a mix. I’ve yet to wake up early enough to put one together, but I instead offer a live set rip. My parties are seedy discos of perverts and poets, who prefer melody to genre, songs to sounds, and bass over beats. As such, you’re able to moonwalk to Morrissey and mope to Michael Jackson, seemingly seamlessly within the same set.
In this rip you’ll hear new new wave, old hipster post punk, and the first single from my indie/electro act, Carpe PM. (With my collaborator, Jeremy Bastard, from Tuesdays at Happy Ending.) The mix is alternately light, sentimental, sexy, and ultimately celebratory. Feel free to style your best pompadour, and dance down to your knees…
