FAVES FROM THE [6/14-6/16] WEEKEND: DJ Gina Turner, Carl Kennedy, and BrEaCh!

Were you extra lazy this weekend? Too busy brunching so you missed some newly released tracks? Well, between mimosas we put together a few of our favorites to share with you!

It must be Christmas in June, because DJ Gina Turner has presented us with a free download of her new EP with Kick-OH!. Gina told fans she would release the EP once she received either 22,000 Twitter followers or 12,000 Facebook likes, and it seems that Facebook won the race. This New York DJ has continued to surpass all standards we’ve ever had about minimal techno and deep house, and she makes a fantastic duo with Kick-OH!; we just wish the EP had more tracks for us to vibe to.

His mixes might be few and far between, but are well worth the wait. Another seasoned NYC DJ/producer, Carl Kennedy’s Shark Attack Mix (also known as the NYC Summer Mix) for Wasted Youth Music is soaked with Carl’s surefire knack for both toning down and building up our favorite house tracks into hour-long sets with serious flow. This one will definitely be on repeat for…well, the entire summer, of course.

We repeat: it’s definitely Christmas in June. Maya Jane Coles posted one of the ‘Everything‘ (ft. Karin Park) remixes this weekend, before her new album “Comfort” has even been released. We couldn’t be more pleased with BrEaCh’s take on the song, and look forward to hearing the rest of the remixes, let alone the album itself, which will be released on July 2, 2013!
