PLAYLIST: Sliimy’s all time pop favorites

Sliimy

20 year old Frenchie Yanis Sahraoui, Aka Sliimy, has been making waves with his playful debut album, Paint Your Face. He first surfaced when his YouTube cover of Britney Spears‘ “Womanizer” became a blog sensation and quickly lead to being the first artist signed to Perez Hilton‘s record label.

We asked Sliimy to put together his ultimate playlist after he explained, “Pop allows you to be at peace. When I was young, I was very lonely and introverted so pop music has always been very important to me — first with The Beatles and Elton John, and today with Lily Allen and Kate Nash.”

Peruse his play list and read about why he has included each song:

The Fugees | Killing Me Softly Fugees - The Fugees: Greatest Hits - Killing Me Softly With His Song
My mum used to sing this song when I was young, it’s my favorite song ever. A lullaby for me.

Santigold | L.E.S Artistes Santigold - Santigold - L.E.S. Artistes
I love Santigold! This song is like a drug. The chorus is so strong and powerful, the whole album is crazy. I love to dance to Santigold.

Lady Gaga | Paparazzi (acoustic version) Lady GaGa - Paparazzi (The Remixes) - EP
This song takes another dimension in acoustic. I love the originality. It’s intense.

The Gossip | Love Long Distance Gossip - Music for Men (Deluxe Version) - Love Long Distance
I love the lyrics of this song, and the way that Beth Ditto sings is simply enchanting. The gap between the music and the lyrics make it feel more nostalgic and sad.

Patrick Wolf | Hard Times Patrick Wolf - The Bachelor - Hard Times
I love the voice of Patrick Wolf. It’s always a performance, the music is incredible and you must see the video clip.

Amanda Blank | Let Me Get Some Amanda Blank - I Love You - Lemme Get Some (feat. Chuck Inglish)
One of my friends made me listen to Amanda’s music and I’m completely in love with it now. I need to have this album!

Mpho | Box n Locks Mpho - Box n Locks - Single
It’s really new, I was on the Internet and I found this artist. This song is really brilliant. It’s a bit 80’s and really up-tempo — I love it.

Lily Allen | LDN Lily Allen - Alright, Still - LDN
This song makes me feel so happy. When I was in London, I was always listening to this song on the street, my favorite by Lily Allen.

The Beatles | Let It Be PAUL MCCARTNEY - Back In the U.S. - Let It Be
Classic. The Beatles are genius.

The Beach Boys | Wouldn’t It Be Nice The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds - Wouldn't It Be Nice
This song is awesome. I love all the songs of the Beach Boys and all the voices.

Otis Redding | Sitting on the Dock of the Bay Otis Redding - The Very Best of Otis Redding - (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay
Otis Redding is just Otis Redding.

Kate Nash | Merry Happy Kate Nash - Made of Bricks (Bonus Track Version) - Merry Happy
The lyrics of this song are incredible, and I love the piano at the beginning.

The Noisettes | Never Forget You Noisettes - Wild Young Hearts (Bonus Track Version) - Never Forget You
I saw them live in France — that was incredible. Afterwards, I bought the album, and now I’m a big fan.

David Bowie | The Man Who Sold the World David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World
I have been a big fan…David Bowie is just David Bowie. He’s one of my biggest inspirations.

I think that this song speaks for everybody. It’s my Sunday song when I’m bored and all.

The Do | Stay (Just a Little Bit More) The Do - A Mouthful (Bonus Track Version) - Stay (Just a Little Bit More)
This song has the right intention — it’s simple, nostalgic. I love the bridge when she says: “Sitting in the desert of the bed / I looked hard for an oasis / But all I could find was a dead camel in pieces.”

Maria Taylor | Song Beneath the Song Maria Taylor - 11:11 - Song Beneath the Song
In order to sleep, tell me if it works for you also? This song is a medicine.
