Lauren Flax has been treating our ears and hearts to giant hugs for several years. She is on the brink of releasing an EP for her single You’ve Changed featuring Sia‘s vocals and a handful of remixes from some of the finest producers on the scene any day now.

She took a break from her on going tour with Fischerspooner to tell us about her first job, her worst job, partying in diapers and more!

I’m from: Detroit City proper
But I live in: BROOKLYN!!!
And work at/doing: I DJ, producer music for myself and others, remix bands and do film scores.
My first job was: Pizza delivery person!
My worst job was: Sam Ash on 48th street. Slinging pro audio gear for most dishonest people on the planet. yuck.
Right before we perform I: show up.
I know it’s going to be a good show when: I burp a lot before I go on. Nerves baby!!!
While we perform I: drink Patrón, dance and lock eyes with the audience all creepy style.
Right after we perform I: have some celebratory drinks / high 5’s.
The weirdest thing that’s ever happened during a show: I played in a parade in Chicago a few years back and the driver didn’t exactly have a steady hand. He kept stopping quickly and everyone and everything would fly forward. There were about 30 drunk people dancing in the float making the turntables and my computer literally jump up and down. Not only did I have to mix, I had to keeping everything from flying off. To top it off, sun was beating down since it was about 95 degrees out, making it super difficult to touch the records, my black laptop and the black mixer. It was like fear factor: DJ edition.
