Name: Juan MacLean
Age: 40
Favorite flavor ice cream: Shaine’s Of Maine’s Indian Pudding
I’m from: Boston, Ma
But I live in: Dover, NH
And work as: a producer, dj, melancholic
Right before we perform I: run through scales on my theremin
While we perform I: try to keep up with Jerry Fuchs, the drummer, who is the best drummer in the world
Right after we perform I: go the afterparty and try to make it back to the bus in time to go to the next city
The weirdest thing that’s ever happened during a show: One time I was DJing at a PS1 show in New York. They are outdoor shows, and there was over a thousand people there. I was playing the last set, the sun was going down, and I realize there is all this commotion down in the crowd. I see a crowd forming a circle around someone, and then I see that this woman has taken off all her clothes and is dancing maniacally, naked.
Shop at: The APC store in SoHo, NYC.
And read: The Road by Cormac Mccarthy
and similarly toned fiction.
If I’m at a super fun party I really hope I have: My girlfriend, who can act as my social interface.
If I had a million dollars I would: Not have to spend 3/4 of my time travelling in order to support myself due to people not buying music anymore.
If I was to be stuck on an island indefinitely I would need: My girlfriend and lots of books.
If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be: Pizza.
Favorite gadget: My Litebook Elite travel LED light therapy box.
I am influenced by: The William Styron book Darkness Visible
You should know that: After I make my last album I am going to disappear forever.
