MIX TAPE: Daisy O’Dell’s Space Disco Mix For Lovers (March 2009 Mix)

Last October Daisy O’Dell and her cohorts in Booby Trap graced us with Volume 13 of the Pre Party Jamz mix tape series.

Now Daisy is back with Cut Copy remix (free download below), and discofied mix. Space Disco For Lovers (mix) was engineered to help you start your spring with some pep in your step!

Daisy O’Dell on her mix and touring with Cut Copy:

The March Mix is built around Daisy’s Theme and my remix of Cut Copy‘s Hearts On Fire. The former was created because of a sample my producing partner Ian Read found while Youtubing. In 1961, the IBM 7094 became the first computer to sing, singing the song Daisy Bell. We ripped the original computer sample from Youtube and Daisy’s Theme was born. HAL from Stanley Kubriks 2001 – A Space Odyssey provides the other vocal elements. Hearts on Fire is my favorite song off In Ghost Colours by Cut Copy. When I found out that I would be touring the country djing Cutters parties (Cut Copy’s Label), I decided to do a remix. Rare Matthew of the Hydra Twins played bass, I sang harmonies, and together with Ian we turned the song into a space disco duet.

I am nearing the end of my time on the road with the Cut Copy crew and have to say that it is rare to meet people that are as nice as they are talented. It has been an absolute pleasure watching the boys inspire wild abandon at their shows and the Cut Copy djs, along with the immensely talented Knightlife, have discofied dance floors across America.

Tonight (March 21, 2009) in New York Cutters will take over Le Poisson Rouge where DFA‘s Holy Ghost will join us. Come see for yourself just be prepared to DANCE.
