After about an hour or two of sleep in london, we caught a flight in the morning to Copenhagen. We were all a bit delirious, but still managed to make it into town. We grabbed a cab from the airport straight to the venue. The cabbie told us a little bit about the neighborhood on the way….
This was the elevator.
No, seriously. it was the elevator.
We went down to the backstage while a band called The Blue Van was sound checking.
This is our German tour manager who we have dubbed “The Wolf”.
Here’s The Wolf in action. With ray bans. Very important to have.
We all tried to stay awake. It was so hard. A chef that works for the club cooked us up a hearty meal. But eating a bunch of meat just makes me more tired.
Somebody hearts Charlie.
The crowd was fun, and there were more people than I had expected, because we’ve never been to Denmark. The blue van are from there though. They played a great set.
Afterwards we cooled down with a few Danish beers.
Mike has this incredible power to drop his spit and suck it back up. I’ve seen it go pretty far.
We got to the hotel around 1 or 2, sorted out where to put the gear (the rooms were very tiny), and got on the internet to try and get in touch with our friends and family. It’s hard not to have a cell phone over here. Mostly because you don’t know what time it is. I’m getting a friggin watch already…
Apparently, this neighborhood is it’s own tiny country… It’s called Christiania. It used to be a military base. But in the 60’s, hippies took it over and turned it into some weird commune. It’s right in the middle of Copenhagen, but it’s really really different…. I was a little shocked at first. There were guys standing over burning trash cans, and dirt roads, and all kinds of random hippie graffiti. I was later informed that it’s a really really safe neighborhood, but it looked like the town that Borat was from.
We had rented all the gear that we have in the states. They really take care of business over here.
The venue was cool. Very different… I didn’t expect it, but the sound was really really good.
