One of the most unique characteristics of Airwaves is the amount of local talent that’s featured. Our friend Jiulia’s band, Oyama, based in Reykjavik, played 5 shows in a variety of venues throughout the weekend.

Cheek Mountain Thief live at Gamla Bíó on November 2, 2012
Mike Lindsay, founding member of the UK twisted acid folk band Tunng, made a stop in Husavik, Iceland and what resulted was his new project, Cheek Mountain Thief. And much like anyone else who visits the Icelandic countryside, he fell in love and is lucky enough to now call it home.
