Dekmantel Showcase & Dutch Culture Day with Fontys Creative Academy
Monday, May 16, 2016 – Middlesex Lounge – 8:00 PM
We all know Tiesto, the world’s most famous DJ is from the Netherlands … but last year Together launched a partnership with the Dutch Culture USA to showcase the ever-present and always bubbling dutch underground electronic music scene.
This year, the festival brings Amsterdam’s Dekmantel stateside to present the best of the Dutch underground with Fatima Yamaha (Live), Juju & Jordash (Live) and Palms Trax!
Resident Advisor Showcase with Jon Hopkins & KiNK
Friday, May 20 — Middle East Downstairs — 8:00 PM
So much to say about this but it all pretty much boils down to how exciting it’s going to be to experience these intimate live performances in a venue that will allow the audience to see visually what goes into making the live audio. For a sneak peak of what to expect check out their live Boiler Room Performances.
Ableton Link Demo & Push Sample Challenge
Friday, May 20 — Mmmmaven Recharge Lounge — 5:00 PM
Shhhh don’t tell anyone, but I recently started tinkering with Ableton live and I’m in the beginning stages of becoming the world’s greatest producer.
I’m eager to get an IRL demo of Ableton Push 2 & Ableton Link by Abelton’s own Ben Casey. These two workshops will showcase some of Casey’s favorite Link compatible apps and how to sample, chop and create something new using the sampling workflows in Ableton Push 2.
Giraffage & Negative Gemini and Special guest SEVNTH
Thursday, May 19 — Middle East Downstairs — 8:00 PM
We’ve photographed Giraffage at Mysteryland and we’ve hosted him at our weekly Girls & Boys party. You’re gonna LOVE it.
Matthew Dear + Axel Boman + J.Phlip
Saturday, May 21 — Middle East Downstairs — 8:00 PM
Let’s be honest, it’s Saturday night. There is a LOT going on, but this is like the condensed version of the whole week on one bill. Matthew Dear, co-founder of Ghostly International, will be closing out the festival’s main stage with support by J.Phlip, the queen of Dirtybirtd Records and Axel Boman’s Boston debut!
IVY LAB (CRITICAL MUSIC | 2020 LDN -UK) EAST COAST DEBUT!
Thursday, May 19 — The Phoenix Landing — 9:00 PM
The east coast debut of Ivy Lab, the new collaborative project of Sabre, Stray and Halogenix is not to be missed! They take the stage at Elements, the longest running Drum and Bass party.
Optimo (Espacio) ALL NIGHT LONG!
Wednesday, May 18 — Middlesex Lounge — 9:00 PM
If you know me, you know I can rant about on and on about how back in the day DJs used to play to the crowd. They used to play sets longer than an hour. They used to control the ark of an entire night and not just their quickie hour slot … WELL this is one for the books because Optimo (JD Twitch & JG Wilkes) is coming to town from Glasgow and playing from doors to doors! Don’t be fashionably late because these guys take the decks at 9pm and they are going to play until Middlesex Lounge turns the lights on.
Dancing on the Charles
Sat, May 21 — American Legion: Marsh Post #442 — 12:00 PM
Dancing on the Charles returns to the riverbanks for another summer season with special guests, food, drinks and the great vibes! Spend your Saturday afternoon outside soaking up the rays while one of our favorite Boston best kept secret DJ John Barera spins an eclectic mix of house and techno.
Create Together at Danger!Awesome
Monday through Saturday — Danger!Awesome Makerspace — Consult Schedule as Workshop Times Vary
In addition to a stellar lineup, the festival will include a variety of daytime programming, taking place at two locations in the Central Square Cultural District in Cambridge, MA. The Mmmmaven Project, Cambridge’s DJ and Electronic Music Production school, will play host to a laboratory and the Mmmmaven Recharge Lounge, where visitors to the fest can learn or relax after work and before the nighttime concerts.
Across the street, at 645 Mass Ave., attendees are invited to visit Create Together at Danger!Awesome’s coworking and makerspace for meetups throughout the week. Attendees can expect to interact with robots, create polyhedrons which they can take home, meet synthesizers at a petting zoo, and learn about the history of dance music.
