Swedish electro-pop duo, The Knife are set to release a studio version of their experimental opera, “Tomorrow, in a Year“, in early March, 2010. The opera is based on Charles Darwin‘s The Origin Of Species
The opera, a collaboration between The Knife, Mt. Sims and Planningtorock, was comissioned by Danish performance group, Hotel Pro Forma in September 2009.
They took the collaborative process one step further, researching Darwin, his literature, and going even as far as taking part in a recording workshop in the Amazon to better understand and record different sounds. The band explained that they sought to “capture the huge width of the Darwin and evolution theme” through their experimental process.
For those of you lucky rascals that live in Denmark, there are a few more performaces lined up this year!
