Last week our buddy AC Slater birthed Rock It Out into the world. We caught up with him via cordless internets during his layover at an airport in Atlanta to discuss dancing with white towels, Moby, “bro’ing out” and more!

Name: Aaron Michael Clevenger aka AC Slater
Age: 29
Favorite flavor ice cream: Mint Choco Chip – refreshing!
I’m from: West Virginia
But I live in: Brooklyn, NY
And work at/doing: Producer, Remixer, DJ, Label Owner, aspiring professional bowler
My first job was: Working at a shoe store, I felt like Al Bundy from Married With Children.
My worst job was: A Pizza Joint in Philly. My bosses were such a-holes, I walked out after one week during the big lunch rush.
Right before I perform I: Put my pants back on, drink a beer and plug in my headphones.
I know it’s going to be a good show when: people don’t ask me to make sure and play “some hits” in my set.
While we perform I: I like to have a drink, enjoy myself, and laugh at funny people. Also bro’ing out with the trainspotters and music nerds is fun.
Right after we perform I: Check Twitter.
The weirdest thing that’s ever happened during a show: Last really crazy show I can remember is playing Moby‘s Degenerates party. When I played everyone got on stage and was going pretty nuts. I was pressed up against the table because it was so crowded, I kept getting knocked into the decks and people were spraying beer all over the place. My laptop was covered in booze. I kept seeing people being dragged out by the security guards. Drop the Lime was drunk and singing on the microphone. I think we were punching each other. Also we were all wearing white towels around our necks, I love towels. It was awesome.
Shop at: Mishka, Boundless, J. Crew
And read: Biographies, magazines.
If I’m at a super fun party I really hope I have: Nicky Digital nearby to document it! (now where’s my money?)
My favorite topic for small talk is: Food.
If I had a million dollars I would: Lace up mom and dad then save the rest for a rainy day.
If I was to be stuck on an island indefinitely I would need: I can’t live without my radio.
If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be: Turkey sandwiches.
Favorite gadget: my iPhone – his name is Steamroller
I am influenced by: Rap music and television.
You should know that: The soundsystem is the most important part of a party!
