Together x Discwoman at Middlsex Lounge on May 16, 2017

Featuring Avalon Emerson, Umfang, Dee Diggs & more!

Together is a week long festival taking place across Boston and Cambridge celebrating Music, Art and Technology.

Avalon Emerson
Avalon Emerson is from the desert. While she currently lives in Berlin, the music she produces comes from the dreamlike expanse and abstract textures of the Sonoran landscapes of Arizona. Her journey has taken her from that sunbaked state to the contemporary dance music mecca via a long stint in San Francisco, where she cut her teeth as a DJ in the city’s storied warehouse party scene. In her DJ sets and productions now, she offers a timeless narrative that reflects a passion for the sound design of new wave, the futurism of techno, the soul of American house and the exuberance of rave. Though she’s built up steam in 2015 from multiple sets at Panorama Bar, and globetrotting all around Europe and North America, she’s just getting started, and continues to outdo herself with original productions released on Whities, Shtum, Spring Theory, and Icee Hot, and her own DJ tool edit pool, the Cybernedits series.

Umfang
Discwoman co-founder Umfang was born in the Bronx, grew up in Kansas and has been living in Brooklyn since 2010. She holds a monthly residency Technofeminism at Bossa Nova Civic Club focusing on emerging talent and an affection for vinyl. Recent highlight appearances include a 7 hour open to close set at Hott Mass Pittsburgh, her debut at Berghain, an extended set at De School Amsterdam, Corsica Studios London, Kaiku Helsinki, Brutaz Warsaw, closing the first night of Sustain Release Year III, and an intimate set at Video Club in Bogotá. Her amorphous polyrhythmic techno productions have been released by 1080p, videogamemusic, and Phinery.

Dee Diggs
Dee Diggs is a DJ, event curator & organizer based in Boston, MA. She is unapologetically black, queer, & femme.

She is building and using her influence to create space for marginalized groups to express & organize themselves. Her aim is to sustain more spaces where these groups are valued and thanked by name for their contributions to humanity. (Thank the OG Black innovators of House & Techno! Thank you, Disco-era Queens & Queers alike for the theatrics & fanfare of nightlife as we know it!)

She is an organizer with Boston’s own queer music tech collective, Evlv Tech & promotes monthly events with the electro/hip-hop mash-up freak show known as Rare Footage Boston. Her sound is on the A-side, grounded & self-referential, & on the the B-side, a dreamy and foreign pursuit. The Dee Diggs experience is the warm vibe that radiates through the room as the booth and the dance floor become one deep in the mix.
