MGMT – Time To Pretend

It’s been a while since a song has really grabbed me and evoked some emotion. The video may be overflowing with trippy symbolism, but I can definitely associate with the desire for the youthful freedom MGMT is portraying (especially the cosmic surfing!).

“I’ll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms.
I’ll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world.
I’ll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home.
Yeah I’ll miss the boredom and the freedom and the time spent alone.

But there is really nothing, nothing we can do.
Love must be forgotten. Life can always start up anew.”

  1. i remember the first time i heard this song i tried really hard to remember some of the lyrics so i could go home and play it on repeat but i smoke too much and id completely forgot about it until i saw it on your page. i really like how simple the point of the song comes out. i think without trying too hard this song really reaches something deep and makes whatever little problem you had today or this week seem smaller. “ill miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms” sweet
